Launched in 1969, the Council for Environmental Quality (CEQ), created by the
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), advises the President of the United States to develop policies on climate change, environmental justice, federal sustainability, public lands, oceans, and wildlife conservation, among other areas. In 1970 NEPA was signed into law. 20 states participate in NEPA regulation.
